I prefer to give an overview to the student about general structure of the topic under discussion. Before that, it has always been too good to relate the topic to real life world to make lesson interesting.
secondly, I have always found it helping to take feed back from students occasionally to asses their level of understanding. Mostly feedback is taken in form of questions in middle of lesson.
Individual counselling in matters other than study are always helpful.
1- October 2012-march 2016- Teaching biology to secondary level students. topics widely include biochemistry, molecular biology, anatomy of human(basics), plant biology, etc. therefore, I will prefer to teach these subjects. At spot lessons are possible however, I can manage to tech you by skype too.
