Über Yun (Sully)
Hi there! :)
My name is Sully Wan and I recently moved to Germany from Shanghai, China. I am a professional piano teacher with almost 15 years of piano teaching experience.
I started learning piano since I was 4 years old. I passed Grade 10 in both Piano Practice and Music Theory of Shanghai Musicians Association piano grading exam at the age of 16 with distinctive grades. In University, I did not only keep learning piano performance and music education but also other art categories such as vocal, painting, acting, dancing etc. Therefore, I like to use the form of playing and singing to guide students to have a more concrete image of music and to enhance their learning interest and course experience.
My students age varies from 4 years old to adults. During my 14 years of teaching, I hold 1-2 student recitals every year and have helped many students pass the ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) piano performance exams and music theory exams (grade 1-8). All my students have passed their exams and many students have received distinction awards which helped them enter universities in the USA or the UK.

For young beginners, I will focus on increasing their interest, gradually get to know each other with the students, increase familiarity, and select suitable books for the students.
For students who have been studying more than half a year to one year, I think the basic knowledge of music (including reading notes and rhythm understanding etc.) is an important part of learning. Generally speaking, my courses will be divided into 3 parts: I will first give students some basic exercises such as notes reading and scales / arpeggios in each class, and then they can play some etudes to enhance finger flexibility and speed, and finally play some nice pieces or music of the students’ own choice.
For adult learners, I think it’s important to be patient and set phased goals for yourself.
