First of all we start learning the arabic letters as they are totally different from the ones in English language.
During teaching the letters, words containing these letters are studied as examples.
Parallel to teaching the letters we start learning some basic words and sentences for conversations by using the english letters to pronounce the arabic words
By the end of teaching the letters the student should be able to pronounce any word in Arabic
After that we start studying the vocabulary of other words followed by teaching the grammer of Arabic language.
Note: There are many dialects for Arabic so learning some dialects or at least the most common ones is included.

We met once a week. In 2 months (approximately 8 lessons) she was capable of learning the arabic letters and reading complete words as well (which is really the hardest thing).
