Über Charalampos
I began playing chess competitively at a young age in Greece. I won the Greek Youth Chess Championship three times, in the under-10, under-12, and under-16 categories. I also finished second at the World School Chess Championship in 2007 and was part of the Greek national team that won the Youth Team Balkaniad in 2010.
From 2013 until the summer of 2025, I taught chess at ESK Chess Club in Thessaloniki. My work included teaching children at the club, in elementary schools, and in public libraries, while I also competed on the club team. In 2019, I participated in Sports Paths, an initiative program bringing sports education to remote Greek islands.
More than 12 years of teaching have shown me that playing chess well and being a competent instructor are two different skills. I value clear communication and pay close attention to how each student thinks, responds to feedback, and develops confidence. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, discussing mistakes constructively, and learning to trust their own reasoning.
I also hold an MSc from LMU Munich in an interdisciplinary field spanning the life and earth sciences. My scientific background has further strengthened my analytical and structured approach to learning and problem-solving.

My lessons are adapted to each student’s current level, learning pace, goals, and interests. Beginners can build a solid foundation in tactics, strategy, and basic endgames, while more experienced players can focus on game analysis, calculation, positional understanding, and addressing specific weaknesses.
I emphasize understanding the ideas behind each move rather than simply memorizing opening lines. A typical lesson combines tactical problems, endgame exercises, practical positions, and analysis of the student’s own games. Throughout the lesson, I encourage students to think critically, recognize recurring patterns, and explain the reasoning behind their decisions.
Lessons are available for children, teenagers, and adults, either in Munich or online. They are taught in English or Greek, while basic communication in German is also possible.
