Erfahrener Deutschlehrer mit Schwerpunkt auf Deutsch für die IT-Branche. Experienced German language teacher specialising in German for IT.

I had five one-to-one lessons with Gijs to prepare for an English-language exam required for my UK visa application. My English was already at an advanced level, and I was aiming for a strong C1 result.
I wanted to improve grammatical accuracy, broaden my active vocabulary and correct any bad habits. As it had been some time since I had last studied in a formal learning environment, I needed support with exam technique as well.

Gijs was incredibly helpful from the outset. Although he usually specialises in a different visa-related English exam, he researched my chosen test thoroughly and tailored every lesson to its specific format and requirements. He made sure I knew exactly what to expect, shared plenty of practical tips and strategies.

Thanks to Gijs, by the day of the exam, I felt perfectly prepared, knew exactly what to expect was not nervous at all, which allowed me to perform at my very best and achieve a C2 High Pass.

Gijs' detailed feedbacks helped me identify mistakes and areas for improvement that I would not have noticed on my own. At the same time, he explained the reasoning behind each correction clearly, which made it much easier to apply and internalize the learnings. Besides strict grammar and spelling skills, he also advised me how to choose and utilize different writing skills to best fulfil the exam-requirements in the more complex writing tasks.

Gijs has an excellent command of both English and German and explains even complex points with great clarity. He is patient, perceptive and meticulous, with a sharp eye for detail and a strong understanding of individual learning needs.

Beyond his teaching skills, Gijs is a kind and warm person who is easy to talk to. He was always professional and attentive.

Every lesson was carefully adapted to my goals, tailored to my interests and therefore fun and easy going. Time always went by quickly and I genuinely enjoyed each class.

I would recommend Gijs without hesitation to anyone looking for professional, thoughtful and highly personalised English tuition.
