Über Katrin
I teach German as a a professional German language teacher, and I am a certified trainer for Cross-Cultural Communication. As you can see, teaching is my job!
I majored in Chinese studies and economics and have worked in different jobs and industries for more than 10 years. Two years ago I decided to quit my last job to explore teaching as a full-time freelance career. I enrolled in a training programm offered by the well-known German „Goethe Institut“ to learn all about state-of-the-art didactics in learning and teaching German as a foreign language. Now, I know the tips, tricks and hacks to get you speak German with ease!
I am a native from the beautiful harbor city of Hamburg/Germany which means: German is my mother tongue and I speak with no dialect. I am open minded, easy going and love to meet people with different backgrounds.
I am here to support you. That‘s the philosophy behind my teaching German. I am your coach – while you will mainly have to do the work.
I believe that you can only learn, what you do. So, I will help you overcome blocks in communication and encourage you to do the speaking! Writing! Listening! All in German.
But don‘t be afraid: I am very patient and understanding with all my students :) I will make you feel confident, relaxed and motivated as I believe that this is very important to ensure good learing.
I use immersive teaching which is speaking mostly in German, but I also use other languages (English and Chinese) to speeden up things a little when I have to explain grammar or tricky phrases. I speak slowly and in a way that is easy to understand.
Teaching comes quite naturally for me. I find great satisfaction in coaching my students towards their learning goals. I guess, that‘s because I come from a family of teachers (aunt, uncle, grandfather worked as teachers). "It's in my blood“, as we say over here in Germany.

I use a variety of materials, text documents, audios, YouTube videos, Ted Talks, news articles and study books to keep my students engaged.
I customize my classes 100% based on your needs and interests and we will always focus on real life conversations. Do you want to prepare for an interview? Travel? Exam? Job engagement? My lessons will be tailormade to developing the skills that you need.
In my class we will talk, talk, talk. Of course, I will also patiently explain relevant grammar structures and phrases. But: I want you to use and practice your German language skills. By listening, repeating and speaking.
