Über Vanessa
Born in Toronto, Canada and of German heritage, I’m a singer specializing in classical music, but I have also worked professionally as a singer/ songwriter, musical theatre singer and in pop music.
I have a music and theater bachelor’s degree from York University, Canada, a Masters degree with distinction in vocal performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, UK and a Masters in Opera Performance from MUK, Vienna, Austria. Along with my teaching, I maintain a professional solo career as an opera singer and singer songwriter (for more information about me, you can visit my private homepage).
As a performer, I have sung several roles, mainly from the German dramatic repertoire, including Leonore (Fidelio), Senta (Der fliegende Holländer), The title roles of Strauss’ Salome, and Ariadne auf Naxos, Chrysothemis (Elektra), Sieglinde (Die Walküre), Gutrune, Elsa (Lohengrin), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser), Gerhilde (Die Walküre) and Marie (Wozzeck) and have sung at the Bayreuth Festival (Germany) , Opera Leipzig, Opera Biel (Switzerland) and with the Leipziger Barockorchester (Germany), Konzertgesellschaft Bad Kreuznach (Germany), Stratford Symphony Orchestra (Canada), The London Singers (Canada), Haydn Orchester Eisenstadt (Germany), Ensemble Neue Streicher Klosterneuburg (Austria), Collegium Instrumentale Brugense (Belgium) and the Pax Christie Chorale (Canada).
A passion project of mine: I am a co-founder of MusikfürMusik gUG, an artist collective in Berlin, Germany which focuses on enabling professionals to organize their own concert and opera projects which bring affordable but also high quality performances to communities in Berlin and beyond.

I started teaching singing when I was 20 years old, working as a voice coach and music director for children’s and teen’s theater programs in Canada and have been teaching voice lessons ever since (with almost 20 years of experience- wow the time flies!). I have also guested as a teacher for masterclasses and have had private vocal studios in Toronto Canada, Vienna, Austria and Berlin, Germany.
I greatly enjoy integrating musicianship, vocal technique and music interpretation skills into my lessons...while always keeping an element of fun in the learning process. Your personal goals for your singing are also important to me and I will tailor your lessons to them.
