Über Erik
Online only · Moscow time (UTC+3) · lessons in English or Russian
I'm Erik Markovskii, a percussionist, composer and teacher with more than 15 years of teaching experience and over 1,000 students, adults and children.
Melodic percussion is a big part of what I do. I teach tongue drum, RAV Vast, glucophone and handpan with one approach: sound first, then rhythm, then your own music. These drums are easy to start on, but control and musicality grow much faster with good guidance.
Background: a degree in psychology and education, 20 years on stage, and theatre music nominated for the Golden Mask, Russia's national theatre award (Best Composer).

Who the lessons are for:
• Beginners with no music background
• Tongue drum or RAV Vast owners who want more than random notes
• Yoga and meditation teachers who want to play in their classes
• Children aged 7 and up
In our lessons:
• Clean sound with hands or mallets, dynamics and control
• Rhythm and groove on a melodic drum
• Melodies and improvisation on your scale
• Composing your own pieces
• A practice plan between lessons, with feedback on your recordings
Instruments: steel tongue drum (glucophone), RAV Vast and similar drums. No instrument yet? I'll help you choose one.
Format: one-to-one 60-minute lessons on Zoom, in English or Russian.
The first lesson is free — 30 minutes. We'll play together, and you'll get exercises to practise on your own.
