Über Julia
My mother tough is Chinese. Ich have learnt English and German (still learning German), and obtained the language learning experience.
I taught English to Chinese Students in China as I was holiday there. The students were very happy the way I taught them. They have fun in class and did not have to work hard but still learn more than they would in their traditional way.

By speaking a language is a fast way to learn a language. I would teach the students right away to speak. With each sentence I speak first, and explain the words and grammar, so the learner has the sense what they learn, understand what sentence and meaning they can confer with a sentence. So it is goal oriented.
By remembering individual words or isolated grammars, it takes much longer to learn a language, but that is most people do, and I would try to avoid it.
