Über Alma
Alma Alloro is an artist based in Berlin. After inheriting her grandmother's sewing machine 8 years ago she adopted the technique of quilting as part of her art practice. Since then she has developed an original approach to quilt making and exhibited art installations around the world in which patchwork quilts function as paintings and are also used as footage materials for moving images. Her approach is playful and experimental but also based upon a basic fundamental skill set. Alma has been giving quilting workshops in various settings including Berlin Sewing Saloon, in her studio, and others.

Patchwork quilting is a form of textile creation involving sewing together pieces of fabric into a larger design that is usually based on repeated patterns created from a variety of fabric shapes.
Starting with an overview of patchwork quilting as a form of art we will learn the basic principles of quilting while adopting a zero-waste approach to the creation of quilts.
What we cover:
* Basic sewing skills will be taught to absolute beginners
* How to make beautiful patchwork quilts with a zero-waste approach.
* Participants will learn The core principles of 'quilting as art' and its historical background.
* How to plan a quilting project using patterns
At the end of the session, you will have your own patchwork design.
