Conrad "Cookie" Stephenson ist ein deutscher Jazzbassist, Komponist und Pädagoge, der zwischen Berlin und New York tätig ist. Nach seinem Bachelorstudium am Jazz-Institut Berlin absolvierte er ein Masterstudium an der Manhattan School of Music bei Buster Williams, Phil Markowitz und Darcy James Argue, gefördert durch ein MSM- und DAAD-Stipendium. Konzertengagements führten ihn auf internationale Bühnen wie die Carnegie Hall, das Empire State Building, Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center, die Wackerhalle Burghausen, das Römische Theater von Amman sowie das Festival International de Carthage. Als Sideman arbeitete er mit mehrfach Grammy-ausgezeichneten Musikern wie Oscar Hernández (Spanish Harlem Orchestra), Luisito Quintero, Jaleel Shaw, Samuel Torres, David Friedman, Ingrid Arthur (The Weather Girls), Milton Wright, John Schröder, Stefan de Leval Jezierski (Berliner Philharmoniker) und Faraj Suleiman zusammen.

Conrad "Cookie" Stephenson is a German-born jazz bassist, composer, and educator working between Berlin and New York City. After completing his bachelor’s degree at the Jazz-Institut Berlin, he pursued a master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music under Buster Williams, Phil Markowitz, and Darcy James Argue, supported by MSM and DAAD scholarships. He has performed at international venues including Carnegie Hall, the Empire State Building, Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center, Wackerhalle Burghausen, the Roman Theater of Amman, and the Festival International de Carthage. Bei mir kannst du dich auf individuellen Kontrabass- und E-Bass-Unterricht für Anfänger, Fortgeschrittene und Profis mit Schwerpunkten auf Sound, Technik, stilistischer Sicherheit, sowie Theorie, Gehörbildung und Komposition zur Förderung einer vielseitigen und ganzheitlichen musikalischen Entwicklung freuen! Als Pädagoge mit langjähriger Unterrichtserfahrung (auch z.B. an der Musikschule Paul Hindemith Neukölln) gestalte ich den Unterricht flexibel unter Berücksichtigung deiner persönlichen musikalischen Interessen und Lernvoraussetzungen - dabei profitierst du von meiner umfangreichen Sammlung an Unterrichtsmaterialien. Stilistisch kann ich dein Spiel von Jazz, über lateinamerikanische und brasilianische Musik, Gospel, Funk & Soul, Pop, Rock, Klassik und Arabische Musik voranbringen und dir alle Werkzeuge an die Hand geben, um in der Praxis nachhaltig erfolgreich zu sein!

- Technik (Pizz bzw. Fingerstyle, Arco, Slap, Plektrumspiel, Muting, Lagenwechsel)

- Theorie: Noten- und Rhythmuslesen, Intervalle, Akkordverständnis, Skalen - alles in der Praxis verankert mit der entsprechenden Gehörbildung, Komposition

In my lessons, you can expect personalized double bass and electric bass instruction for beginners, intermediate players, and professionals, with a focus on sound, technique, stylistic confidence, as well as theory, ear training, and composition to support a versatile and well-rounded musical development! As an experienced educator with many years of teaching practice (including at the Paul Hindemith Music School in Neukölln), I tailor each lesson to your individual musical interests and learning needs, while giving you access to my extensive library of teaching materials. Stylistically, I can help develop your playing across jazz, Latin American and Brazilian music, gospel, funk & soul, pop, rock, classical, and Arabic music - equipping you with all the tools you need for lasting success in real-world performance.
