Über Anna
I am a dual national (Austrian & British), now living in Salzburg (since 2023), after living in Germany for 30 years.
I grew up in England with German an ever-present language in the family. I have a Diploma in teaching German as a foreign language (DaF/DaZ-Trainerin) as well as a Bachelor Degree in "German and Linguistics". Have taught both English and German over the years. Working for Berlitz language schools in Germany in the ‘90’s, I trained teachers of all languages in the communicative approach to language learning. As a beginner learner of Japanese, French and Italian, I understand very well the joys and frustrations of being a beginner. And with a growing number of people looking to learn German, I have gradually focused more on teaching and motivating beginner learners of German.

Most language learners, in my experience, want to speak the target language in real-life situations. But when you make your first tentative steps in German, and the immediate response comes back in English, how demotivating!
To build your confidence, as well as your skills, my lessons are conducted entirely in German. This is possible with the use of visuals, gestures, synonyms and a structured approach. And of course, most importantly, your actual speaking, repeating and experimenting with your own sentences. Just like learning a new sport, it’s your active participation that’s crucial.
In our first meeting, we'll discuss what your language goals are. I will explain my approach and give you a short demo. If we're agreed that we're a good fit, then we can plan further lessons.
(That first meeting can of course be conducted in English if you prefer.)
