Über Kateryna
I'm Kateryna, a mathematics tutor based in Berlin with a Master's degree in Mathematics.
I've been teaching mathematics for over 20 years. I specialise in IGCSE Mathematics (Cambridge and Edexcel), IB Mathematics (Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation, both SL and HL), A-Level Mathematics, and GCSE Mathematics (all major exam boards)."
I work with students at Berlin British School, Berlin International School, BBIS, Berlin Metropolitan School, and other international schools in the city. I also tutor students online across Europe — in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Czech Republic, Austria, and beyond.
My lessons are conducted in English, as the curriculum requires. When a student gets stuck on a difficult concept, I can switch to Ukrainian or Russian to explain it — then we return to English. I also speak advanced German and French, so I'm happy to communicate with parents in either language."

Every student gets an individual plan — I don't use a one-size-fits-all programme.
In our first session, I assess where your child stands: which topics are solid, which have gaps, and how they handle exam-style questions. This shapes everything that follows. We don't waste time on material they already understand.
For students in Year 5–9, I focus on building strong foundations, keeping up with classwork, and making sure small gaps don't turn into big problems later. If your child has recently moved from another school system, I help bridge the differences between what they learned before and what their new school expects.
For IGCSE and GCSE students (Year 10–11), lessons are focused on exam preparation: past papers under timed conditions, exam technique, mark scheme analysis, and targeted work on weak topics. I teach students how examiners award marks — understanding the difference between method marks, accuracy marks, and follow-through marks can raise a grade significantly.
For IB students (Year 12–13), I cover both Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation at SL and HL. I also help with the Internal Assessment — from choosing a topic to structuring the exploration and meeting all five assessment criteria. The IA counts for 20% of the final grade and is where many students need the most guidance.
Lessons are 60 or 90 minutes, conducted online via video call with a shared digital whiteboard. I'm also available for in-person lessons if you're in Berlin. Most students work with me once or twice per week during term, increasing to two or three times per week before exams.
