Über Rebecca
I was born in America and moved to England after finishing school. I thus have first hand experience of American High School and SATs and AP exams. I went to University in England and acquired the PGCE postgraduate teaching certificate there before working for 5 years in a boarding school teaching English. I also worked as a Corrector of IB and A Level exams. In 2011 I moved to Vienna, where I still live. I have taught since 2011 in a bilingual English-German secondary school where I have also written coursebooks for our department. I have prepared students for the Cambridge exam and Austrian Matura as well has having mostly taught English as a first language to bilingual students. I also habe fluent German.

I focus on accurate grammar, sentence structure variety, developing vocabulary through reading, discussing literature in creative and analytical ways, achieving coherent texts, and of course speaking freely and fluently. Using reading as a stimulus exposes students to the way language is used, and provides a variety of topics to engage with. Writing and having texts corrected is important for solidifying an understanding of grammar and for testing out new vocabulary. A good mix of creativity and structure holds the interest and leads to rapid development!
