Über Rebekka
I am a 28-year-old multilingual student, thinker, and writer passionate about the exchange of knowledge and ideas. I love to dismantle concepts and narratives, and feel most comfortable at the intersections between formal academic disciplines.
My undergrad degree, formally in Islamic Studies, straddles gender studies, social and cultural theory, bioethics and biotechnology, sexuality and reproduction as well as history and philosophy. I hope to be able to share the eye-opening and exciting experience of a truly interdisciplinary lens with you.
In addition to my broad academic experience and focus areas, I incorporate my awareness of the personal and psychological aspects of the student experience in this most confusing and ambiguous time and the struggle to make sense of it all into my tutoring.
Beyond impacting the scholarly discourse, I remain passionate about its radiation “outwards” through art, media and popular culture. My background in radio and audio storytelling as a correspondent and producer for the Student Radio in Oslo and Beirut allowed me to hone my interest in assisted reproduction and social change from a multicultural, intersectional perspective. The skills I cultivated through these journalistic activities enable me to help shape a broad audience’s response to emerging biotechnologies and ethical quarrels beyond academic circles.
I achieved proficiency in colloquial Lebanese prior to my studies in formal Arabic and Islamic Studies in Berlin, which I conduct in my third language, German.

This course is intended as a holistic guide to the process of studying as a bachelor's candidate in the humanities or social sciences. It's designed to help undergrads in social, cultural or area studies with grasping the fundamental questions in contemporary debates across disciplinary divisions in anthropology, sociology, cultural, religious and regional studies. In addition to being able to situate texts from your syllabus in the broader constellation of related literature, you will develop your general reading, writing and research skills. Reading is a highly structural process, and managing this will help you greatly in extracting relevant information to form your own ideas, arguments and theses.
