Über Kayley
I am a 31-year-old mother of two, an American expat, and until the age of 25, a mono-linguist.
As a mechanical engineer, my path of studies did not include foreign languages, so I didn’t realize until after my Masters degree that I am fascinated by language.
So, I moved to Guatemala and dedicated six months to learning how best to learn (and teach) Spanish, and language more generally. Five years later I moved to Germany and began learning German. Exploring languages is a hobby I can’t seem to get enough of; I’m excited to support your learning journey as well!

My primary method is teaching proficiency through reading and storytelling (TPRS). In my journey of learning two new languages as an adult, I devoted a lot of time and energy to finding the best way to learn language, and this was by far the best for me. I went from A1 to C2 in my second language in 6 months.
This method is all about stretching your understanding and mastery of the language by structuring listening and speaking interactions in specific ways. With a simple set of techniques, I can make content just above your level comprehensible and help you develop a feel for the language.
This method is all about internalizing the language and communicating meaning, not memorization and grammar rules.
My lessons are best suited for learners between A1 and B2.
