Electric bass lessons for music enthusiasts of all levels in Wien | Instrument fundamentals, improvisation, jazz harmony, music theory, ear training, and more

J.T. Hwang has been a great and inspiring teacher to me. During a couple of years in Groningen it was a pleasure to enjoy the bi-weekly private classes. I highly recommended him for both his technical expertise as well as his ability to incorporate my personal idiosyncrasies.
My experience with T.J. as a piano teacher has been wonderful. What makes these lessons so unique is the delicate balance between the technical training—such as mastering and applying of chords—and a deeply interactive and personal approach.
As an ‘old man’ coming from a postmodern dance background with amateur piano ambitions, I brought along some stubborn, years-old habits, especially when it comes to improvising in specific ways. T.J. knew exactly how to handle this with great skill and patience. My personal pitfalls weren't treated as mistakes, but rather as a starting point for growth.
From day one, the lessons were tailor-made to match my own ambitions and capabilities. The atmosphere was always positive, motivating, and attuned to who I am as an amateur. Keeping me inspired to keep exploring skills and techniques working with the chords and enjoy improvising at home.

JT is a great teacher! I’ve had jazz piano lessons from JT for 3.5 years. He doesn’t only teach tunes, but also about the mindset of a pianist, what to look for when performing, how to play with other people, among many other things. He has a great way of communicating through music, and helps his student grow as a musician. He can adapt to his students’ needs with ease, and can give insights into many different aspects of playing, drawing from his immense experience as a musician and teacher.

J.T. is an incredibly skilled musician in every aspect. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher. He has the skills to adjust and personalize the material for his students and can explain the concepts in many different ways depending on the students' needs. If you study with J.T., you're definitely going to understand the topics in depth and will be able to play them in no time. :))
