Über Hedley
I come from Cape Town, South Africa, and live in Basel, where I have since become a Swiss citizen. I speak German and I run a creative studio in Basel, where I teach English, art, and design. I have a strong background in the magazine industry and, alongside my work in design and art, have published a couple of children's books. In Basel, I also teach at the Volkshochschule and have taught at many different schools, but now I mostly teach my own students while running my studio. Looking forward to meeting my new students!

I have taught many different techniques, but it really comes down to the student. I strongly recommend keeping it conversational. I mostly use a book because they have great content—so why not take advantage of that? It’s easy to expand beyond the book at any time, but it serves as a solid backbone for the lesson. I love using interactive worksheets and keeping my students talking as much as possible. I enjoy both private lessons and group sessions. I am not a grammar-only teacher.
