Über Sara
Sara Contado (1996) is currently a student at the Art and Communication Practices Department at the Institute of Art Sciences and Art Education at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna (Universität für Angewandte Kunst Wien). Her second bachelor’s degree program is Ethic Teacher Education Program at the University of Vienna.
Her artistic practice focuses on the advancement and mediation of the multifarious fields of visual arts, visual cultures, and forms of communication. She is working on developing awareness on problems in the social and historical dimensions of art and aesthetics, as well as imparting a critical understanding of functions and the fundamental connections between art, education and society.
During the Winter Semester 2020/21 Contado collaborated with "Allianz Kunst und Bildung gegen Rassismus und Faschismus" for the organization of the symposium “Diskriminierungskritische Bildungsarbeit üben” (March 2021), in which she also presented “Die Macht der Sprache und die Sprache der Macht. Im Fokus: Wörter aus den Benin-Saaltexten des Weltmuseums Wien”, a mediation concept thought as an exercise for reflecting the role of language in ethnological exhibitions. In 2019 she curated “See You Bot” interactive performance series at the Angewandte Festival “OPENING UP: Bis Auf Widerruf Geöffnet“. Since 2019, she started a collaboration with CSU Soc. Coop. and has been involved as a guide in the permanent exhibition “BZ ‘18–’45: One Monument, One City, Two Dictatorships”, located in the Monument to Victory in Bolzano, South Tyrol. 2014 Contado was selected along with other 800 students from all over Italy to take part in the education project “Treno Della Memoria”. A one-year-long project which speaks of history and memory of the past but also of testimonies and commitment in the present. It is one of the most relevant projects in the world on the theme of the memory of the Shoah which includes a visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. 2014 she participated in the competition "Sandro Pertini“ promoted by the Academy of Fine Arts Venice and in 2015 her work “Celui-ci N’est pas Soulement a Président“ was presented at “The Sandro Pertini Values“ exhibition at the EURAC research center in Bolzano and awarded as the winner of the section for students of secondary schools of South Tyrol.
Contado lives, works and studies in Vienna.

Es geht hier nicht um Nachhilfestunden in Form von Frontalunterrichten, indem nur das grundlegende Fachwissen vermittelt wird, sondern es geht hier vor allem um ein interaktives und partizipatives Unterrichtsformat, die auch Bewusstsein und Motivation am Lernen fördern möchte. Außer dem Fachwissen werden also Lernmethoden vermittelt, die eine selbständige Wissensaneignung ermöglichen.
Als Lehrperson ist mein Ziel alle Lernenden in ihren Lernprozessen zu begleiten und sie für die Erreichung ihrer individuellen Ziele zu unterstützen.
