Über Mayuko
Hello, my name is Mayuko. I am a native Japanese speaker based in Zurich.
I have 15+ years of experience in international HR and global business environments, working with leaders and teams across multiple regions and cultures. Through this experience, I have learned how important it is to understand not only words, but also the cultural context, communication style and subtle nuances behind them.
I enjoy supporting people who are curious about Japan, whether they are preparing for a trip, interested in Japanese culture, or working with Japanese colleagues, clients or business partners.
My teaching style is warm, practical and encouraging. I aim to create a relaxed space where you can ask questions, practise without pressure, and build confidence step by step.
Unterricht ist auf Englisch und Japanisch möglich. Einfache Erklärungen auf Deutsch sind ebenfalls möglich.

My lessons are practical, personal and goal-oriented.
I focus on real-life Japanese for travel, daily conversation, cultural understanding and business communication. Depending on your goal, we can practise useful phrases, pronunciation, simple grammar, self-introduction, restaurant or shopping situations, or communication with Japanese colleagues and clients.
A typical lesson starts with a short check-in and a clear focus for the session. I then introduce useful expressions, explain the cultural context where needed, and give you time to practise through simple conversation and role play.
I do not use a one-size-fits-all method. In the beginning, we clarify your goal, level and interests, and then create a simple learning plan that fits you.
The lessons are suitable for beginners, travellers, people preparing for a trip to Japan, culturally curious learners, and professionals working with Japan.
The first free lesson is a short 20–30 minute online consultation to understand your goals, level and learning needs, and to suggest the best learning approach.
Der Unterricht ist praktisch, persönlich und zielorientiert. Er eignet sich für Anfänger/innen, Reisende und Berufstätige.
