Über David
David Cassel is a professional theatre director, acting coach, writer, performer, and English communication teacher with over 40 years of international experience.
He has worked professionally as a director, performer, designer, teacher, mentor, and creative producer since 1978, creating and teaching original performance work in more than 30 countries.
David’s background includes physical theatre, mime, clown, improvisation, acting technique, storytelling, public speaking, voice, movement, comedy, and ensemble performance. He has trained in clown with Richard Pochinko, Lecoq-based physical theatre, and corporeal mime, and has worked with Cirque du Soleil as a writer and clown.
His teaching combines English language training with pronunciation, articulation, phonemics, public speaking, theatrical communication, structured thinking, and confidence-building. This makes his lessons especially useful for students who want to speak English more clearly, naturally, confidently, and authoritatively.
David has taught in schools, universities, theatre programs, circus schools, festivals, and professional training environments in Canada, Australia, Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, and Poland. In Berlin, he has taught physical theatre, improvisation, mime, and storytelling at Die Etage Schule für Darstellende Kunst, and has also worked as a language tutor in German schools with InterACT English.
He was awarded European Outdoor Performer of the Year in Rotterdam in 1995 for his solo comedy production Hotch’s 3D TeeVee. His work brings together language, body, voice, rhythm, presence, humour, and human connection.
Today, David helps students use English not only correctly, but clearly, confidently, and effectively in real communication.

My lessons are designed for students who want to speak English more clearly, confidently, and effectively.
I do not teach only grammar and vocabulary. I teach English as communication: pronunciation, articulation, rhythm, listening, sentence structure, confidence, presence, and clear thinking.
A typical lesson begins with diagnostic conversation. I listen carefully to how you speak naturally, including your pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, rhythm, fluency, pauses, sentence structure, confidence, and communication habits. From there, I identify the most useful areas to improve.
Depending on your goals, we may work on:
clearer pronunciation
North American / international English speech patterns
difficult sounds, vowels, consonants, and diphthongs
mouth position, articulation, and physical speech habits
grammar and sentence structure
vocabulary for more precise expression
reading aloud for rhythm, clarity, and confidence
listening comprehension
public speaking and presentations
storytelling and structured answers
improvisation and spontaneous speaking
reducing hesitation, rambling, and mental blocks
Because of my theatre background, I also work with the physical side of speaking: breath, voice, rhythm, posture, facial expression, timing, confidence, and presence. Speaking is not only intellectual. It is also physical, emotional, and social.
I often use scripts, short texts, improvisation games, Socratic questions, tongue twisters, rhythm exercises, physical speech drills, and structured conversation. These tools help students become more relaxed, more expressive, and more precise.
One of my core training methods is called “Eight Things.” It helps students move through mental blocks, hesitation, repetitive habits, and resistance in memory and speech. The goal is to help language flow more freely while keeping the speaker physically and mentally engaged.
My philosophy is simple: fluency without clarity is noise. The speaker guides the listener. Pauses are not weakness; they help organize thought. Mistakes are part of learning. When students learn to navigate mistakes, they gain clarity. Clarity builds confidence. Confidence creates authority.
These lessons are especially useful for adults, professionals, students, actors, performers, presenters, teachers, and advanced English learners who want to sound clearer, more natural, more confident, and more authoritative.
My lessons are specialist communication coaching, not casual conversation practice. The price reflects detailed diagnostic listening, personalized correction, pronunciation and articulation work, public speaking training, and practical confidence-building.

Perfekt! David is an exceptional acting coach who completely transformed my confidence and abilities as a performer. With his guidance, I was able to nail auditions and get into teams and performance groups that I never thought I was ready for. He not only helped me prepare for auditions but also pushed me beyond my doubts, making sure I walked into every opportunity feeling capable and confident.
His knowledge of acting techniques is vast—he seamlessly blends Meisner, Stanislavski, Strasberg’s Method, Grotowski’s physical theatre, Uta Hagen’s realism, classical stagecraft, Laban movement analysis, and the Suzuki method. But what truly set his coaching apart for me was his expertise in clowning, puppetry, improv comedy, and even improvised musicals. He helped me tap into my creative side, embrace playfulness, and build a connection between my physicality, voice, and emotional expression.
Every session was a mix of technical mastery, creative exploration, and honest, encouraging feedback. David helped me understand my body as a performance tool, refine my stage presence, and develop the vocal and physical confidence I needed to succeed. If you’re looking for a Berlin acting coach who will help you step beyond self-doubt, develop rock-solid technique, and thrive in auditions and performances, David is the one to work with!Mehr Bewertungen anzeigen
