I usually start from the basics. Mathematics is all about understanding the fundamentals. I treat my students as my friends and help them with every difficulty they face.
Regarding the lesson plan, I would mostly start with the formulas. I try to explain and understand the formulas before proceeding with the chapters. I think that most of the students only mug up the formulas, which is not good for the long term. I teach how that formula is formed and make students understand how and where they can apply that.
