Vor einigen Jahren habe ich mich an John gewandt, als ich mich auf die TOEFL und GRE - Prüfungen vorbereitete. Damals war mein Schul-Englisch miserabel: Ich konnte keinen Dialog führen und meine Aussprache war schlimm. Mit seiner Hilfe konnte ich schnell alle Sprachbarrieren brechen und die Prüfungen erfolgreich bestehen. Durch ihn habe ich erkannt, wie geil es ist, Fremdsprachen zu lernen. Danach bin ich für mein Studium nach Deutschland umgezogen, habe Deutsch und Spanisch gelernt, nehme aber immer noch Skype-Unterrichten bei John, damit mein Englisch auf dem hohen Niveau bleibt. John findet immer interessante Gesprächsthemen - oft diskutieren wir wissenschaftliche und technische Artikel (für mich als Wissenschaftler es ist besonders interessant), Politik, Sport und aktuelle Nachrichten. Außerdem bringt John den klassischen New Yorker Akzent bei (halt wie Hochdeutsch): Ich wurde sogar schon ein paar Mal im Urlaub von Engländern und Australiern als Amerikaner falsch identifiziert =)
